July 15, 2018 - We aplogize sincerely for taking a longer hiatus than we had planned, but we're back! Regular submissions for our October 2018 issue are now open! We're looking for science fiction, fantasy, and other speculative fiction up to 10,000 words. If you have a story you'd like to submit, please see our submissions page. Empyreome Will Enter Hiatus, Reopen Submissions May 2018
October 1, 2017 - Immediately following the publication of its October 2017 issue, Empyreome will be on an official hiatus, during which time submissions will remain closed. The magazine plans to reopen submissions in May 2018 for both its weekly flash series and its July 2018 issue. Please check back periodically or subscribe to email news for updates.

Weekly Flash Series To Go on Summer Break in June
May 10, 2017 - Beginning the second week of June, Empyreome's Weekly Flash Series will officially be on summer break. Publication of flash fiction will resume on September 1, 2017. Submissions of flash stories will remain open throughout the summer break period. If you have a story you'd like to submit, please see our submissions page.
Submissions close April 30 for our July issue!
April 27, 2017 - This weekend is your last chance to submit a story for our July issue! Submissions for fiction 1,000 to 10,000 words will close on Sunday, April 30 at midnight and will not reopen until June 1. As always, submissions will remain open for flash fiction stories up to 1000 words. If you have a story you'd like to submit, please see our submissions page.

Publishing Agreement Simplified and Condensed
October 16, 2016 - In response to our authors and in coordination with our legal consultant, we have simplified and condensed our publishing agreement. Our terms remain the same, but now the agreement fits on one page. You can see a sample contract here.
Increased Fiction Payment Rate
October 15, 2016 - As a tiny step toward our goal of becoming a professional paying market, we have increased our author payments from $0.001/word to $0.0025/word. Authors who have recently signed contracts with us will also receive this new rate. You can find details about submitting your work at our fiction guidelines page.
Our Patreon Page is Now Live
October 12, 2016 - We just launched our Patreon page. People can help us pay our authors a more respectable rate by pledging as little as $1.00/month. For people who just want to give a one-time donation, they can do so through PayPal. Click here for options.

Website Redesign Complete
October 6, 2016 - We've transitioned away from our Wordpress site (which we had set up just to get the ball rolling), and we've successfully launched our new website. We're proud to say that we've written this site from scratch in HTML, Javascript, and C#. We'll be adding more content in the coming weeks, so please check back soon.
